Fortis Solutions Group announced Tuesday that Carlos Tapias is the company’s new CEO, effective today.
Tapias replaces John Wynne, Jr., the company’s founder and CEO for the last 14 years. Wynne becomes the board of directors’ chairman and will continue to lead Fortis’ M&A activities.
Tapias has more than 20 years of experience at U.S. and international packaging companies, having previously served as Tekniplex's vice president and general manager of its North American fresh food business. In that role, he spearheaded the integration of Grupo Phoenix, following Tekniplex's acquisition of the company in September 2021; he had been CEO of Grupo Phoenix’s U.S. operations. Tapias started with Grupo Phoenix in 2001 and worked his way up the ranks.
“This transition represents a pivotal moment for the company as we strive to deliver exceptional value to our customers and stakeholders, and to build the next chapter of our story together,” Tapias said in a news release.
Fortis has more than 1,300 employees and 20 manufacturing sites in the U.S. and Canada. The flexible packaging and labels manufacturer was acquired from Main Post Partners by Harvest Partners in 2021. In April, Fortis acquired the print division of fellow Virginia-based company MASA Corp.
