Two packaging companies under ownership of The Kraft Group have new facilities in Massachusetts. Gov. Maura Healey attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony last week for the project that’s been in the works for two decades, according to the Boston Business Journal.
Packaging company Rand-Whitney Container, based in Worcester, Massachusetts, will manufacture cardboard boxes for retail and protective packaging at a 384,000-square-foot center in nearby Boylston, according to New England news media reports. It was supported by a $125 million investment from The Kraft Group.The facility is poised to make as many as 300 million boxes annually, incorporating recycled content, the Telegram & Gazette reported.
Adjacent to that facility is a roughly 300,000-square-foot building that UN1F1ED² Global Packaging — which Kraft owns in partnership with Atlas Box and Crating — intends to use for storage. The company specializes in manufacturing components for foam, air pack and wood packaging. Meanwhile, the company has a 1 million-square-foot building currently under construction in the nearby town of Sutton.
