New Jersey workers for SEE, the packaging company formerly known as Sealed Air, are slated to be impacted by changes to a site in Saddle Brook, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notice.
The February notice indicates 83 workers will be laid off between June and September 2024. Neither the WARN notice nor the company specified the nature of the event impacting those roles.
“Sealed Air routinely assesses its business operations to meet customer demands and ensure efficient processes. The information contained in the WARN notice filed with the state of New Jersey is accurate. We cannot comment further at this time,” SEE spokesperson Christina Griffin said in an emailed statement Wednesday.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-headquartered company announced its rebrand from Sealed Air to SEE last spring. In August, the company announced a “cost take-out to grow” restructuring program.
Elements of that program include “[t]ransforming SEE’s go-to-market team into an efficient and effective solutions-focused organization, optimizing our portfolio with a focus on automation, digital and sustainable solutions, streamlining our supply chain footprint and driving SG&A productivity,” the company wrote at the time.
Shortly after that, the company announced CEO Ted Doheny would step down immediately and two executives were appointed as co-CEOs.
SEE will host a fourth-quarter 2023 earnings call on Feb. 27.
